Assemble and solder your own Brainy-Motor Board (or get pre-assembled,
soldered and tested) and program it to control a motorized model or robot,
Designed for students by teachers and educators This educational 14pin micro-controller
kit is an extremely useful low cost motor controller, which when assembled
by
soldering, can be used for controlling three motors and is ideally suited for
robot work. It is programmed via a PC or Mac computer using the latest Flowol™ 3
software (see below).
There are four outputs, three of which can control DC motors (two with bi-directional
control) and an output for an LED or buzzer. There are four digital inputs. When
a user has downloaded their program the USB cable is removed for remote autonomous
use. Brainy-Motor is designed to easily integrate with working models, such as
steerable robots, using the corner holes to fix in place. Users can connect to
the input or output connections by soldering or alternatively use screw connectors
or quick release connectors.
‘Live debug’ in real time (sometimes called ‘in circuit
emulation’ or ICE for short)! The Flowol™ 3 software makes easy
testing and set up with its powerful facility to program as normal AND also
the ability
to directly control the Brainy-Motor Board in real time while testing. Responding
to PCB input feedback via the USB cable before the program is finally downloaded
for autonomous use and the USB cable is removed. The Brainy-Motor then works
independent of the computer and can be taken home as a working project.
Each kit includes the core parts to get going such as: PCB, Resistors,
Transistor, Diode, Capacitors, IC Driver Chip, LED, IC Sockets, 6V Battery
Holder, 9V Battery
Snap, Connector, Cover, Bolts, Spacers and directions. The kit version requires
advanced assembly skills and soldering.
Requires 4 ‘AA’ alkaline
batteries. Teachers can also supply screws or removable connectors (so the ‘inputs’ and ‘outputs’ can
be changed without soldering), LEDs, 3- 6V electric motors, switches and soldering
equipment.
You will need to purchase Flowol™ 3 software (see below) and at least
one download cable (see below) for the classroom.
