An easy to make and easy to customize autonomous robot that can be controlled with the Genie PCB418 Board (sold separately). It has large wheels driven by two geared-down motors allowing it to work on carpet.
Technical concepts covered include steering, speed, reducing friction, wiring up the circuit, forward and reverse switching, balance and gearing down the motor speed. The average middle school student, with teacher support, will be able to make it - some soldering is needed to connect the sensors, motors, etc. You can also alter the design of your robot as you want using the various holes.
Additional challenges include organizing a game or competition using your robot, trying different sensors for different functions or making it dance. Ideal for average middle school projects to more advance college applications (New York Institute of Technology adapted it for robotics course).
