Forensic science enables the police to answer two important questions about a
crime: “who did it” and “how was it done?”
The activities
in this module are designed to introduce students to the basic scientific
concepts and methods used by criminalist, the people who investigate crime
scenes, and
how this information is used to convict criminals in a court of law. The
learning experiences in this module will focus on the specialty area of fingerprinting.
Using a simulated laser, students will develop and view prints with fluorescent
powders, learn about light as a tool for criminalist and investigate the
science
of light energy.
